From our 2007 guest book:

"We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Cleuziou Meur, the weather, location, the village of Pleyben itself were ideal and our holiday was specially enhanced by the attractiveness of your home. Your house guide was enormous help and the attention given to the smallest of details. The homemade bread, jam in the welcome pack. The toys, books, videos, etc.,etc., all added to the enjoyment and lack of hassle. Many, many thanks Frank Newsham +7"

"A fabulous, welcoming house with every comfort. We had a great time despite some miserable weather. All in all a brilliant break."

Sue, Denise, Stuart, Diane and Glyn from Rugby and Loughborough
6th to 13th May 2007

“Sue and I had a wonderful time, it was a honeymoon so you would expect a good time. On arrival we had a wonderful reception and it continued throughout the week; with a casual phone call just to make sure we had everything we needed, this is was all good customer care. Add to this a quite and peaceful location, a fabulous house, which is very clean, well specified and with plenty of space. Look out for the glowworms in the garden. '11 o'clock at night and looking across the lawn there are these tiny bright lights'. We had a lovely time and would recommend the Spreadbury's house to anyone. We love Brittany and I think that sells itself.”

Sue and David Stone from Enfield
10th to 17th June 2007

“We had a lovely holiday, despite the weather. The gite was very spacious and comfortable for both families. On arrival we appreciated the homemade bread and jam and the fresh flowers - a thoughtful touch. Lovely big garden - although we didn't make the most of it as the weather wasn't very good. Enjoyed playing darts and cards in the evening though, and the children watched a couple of videos. Found a couple of beaches where the boys could surf. Also cycled along the canal which was good. Great place for a relaxing and peaceful holiday.”

The Wilsons from Exeter
12th to 19th August 2007

“I would like to say how much we enjoyed the use of your gite in Pleyben for our holiday in August. We enjoyed a super holiday with our friends. The Gite provided plenty space for 4 adults and 4 children to spread out comfortably. The children particularly enjoying having access to all three floors! Although the weather seemed quite cloudy each morning by the time we had consumed several croissants and a pot of coffee and reached the beach the sun was normally shining!!! The beach at Prentrez Plage provided plenty to occupy the four children and being virtually deserted was a bonus. We would have no problem in recommending the gite for a holiday at anytime of year. There is plenty to do around the Pleyben area so we didn't feel the need to travel far. We would love to re-visit in the future.”

From our 2006 guest book:

"A beautiful gite – very spacious and excellently presented. Nicely secluded, but very handy for the beaches as well as the major towns and attractions. The gite had everything that we could have wished for and more. We spent many relaxing hours in the garden and our grandson thoroughly enjoyed the paddling pool and playing with the toys in the playhouse. We all had a fantastic time and look forward to returning in the not too distant future."

“My family and I had a fantastic 2 weeks holiday in your Gite, which catered for all of our needs more than adequately. It provide perfect peace and tranquility we when required it, especially for alfresco meal times. The location is ideal; within easy driving distance to various beaches and towns. Upon arrival we found the gite immaculately presented and just as you had described it. Due to our late arrival, all the supermarkets were closed, so Kim’s bread and jam were a godsend. As you can probably tell, we had a great holiday in your gite. Three generations catered for and all of us having our personal favourites. Thank you so much for allowing us the use of your home”

“Thanks for a great stay at your house in France. It was our first holiday together as a family and we had a great time. We managed to visit 4 different beaches, as well as the Planetarium, Alligator park and Oceanarium in Brest. We really liked Concearnu (walled town) very much. The house was extremely comfortable and plenty of videos etc to keep the kids from talking all night.”

"We had a marvellous time in your Gite and everything exceeded our expectations. Great public rooms and facilities down below were vey useful too. Lovely garden and great beaches not far too either, so everyone was very happy. We managed to acquire a taste for the local cider!"

"We have had another lovely holiday in your gite. The kids loved the garden and made good use of the paddling pool. They also loved the swings and slides that had just been installed before our arrival. We also thought the purchase of the tumble dryer a new addition from last year was an excellent idea. Kim and Howard were as helpful as ever"

"Your gite was beautiful, we loved all the rooms and everyone was very happy, we enjoyed trips to the local beaches and made daily visits to Pleyben. We all thought Pleyben was a super french town and we had to make use of the local doctor there who was extremely helpful. The house guide you sent us shortly before our holiday, is the most comprehensive guide we have ever seen, my husband and I have been staying in Gites for seven years now."

“Please accept my appreciation of your wonderful home in Brittany. It far exceeded my expectation, with every need catered for. What was so very pleasing is the feeling of a true family home, and this is reflected with all the facilities and comfort you provide. The really sad part about it all is that a week isn’t really long enough….There is just so much to see and do. My sincere thanks Spreadburys for making my holiday so worthwhile. It will be the last holiday that I will ever be able to spend with my daughter, her husband and grandchildren as they are emigrating to New Zealand in the very near future. It was really very important that everything was ‘right’ Cleuziou Meur certainly made it so.”

From our 2004 guest book:

“We have had a lovely stay here. The house has been a real home from home and has accommodated our children (1&4) very well. Pentrez beach is great for kids, caves, rock pools and lots of space. Concarneau is a must see with its little walled city, with lovely shops, fishing museum and lots of places to eat and drink. The location is ideal for exploring all directions, or private enough to sit down, relax and sample the cheeses and wines. The paddling pool kept the kids amused for hours, as did the playhouse! The path in the garden did create some mud-pie moments, may be worth grassing or making formal. The garden space and layout worked really well for adults and kids alike.”

The Bamfield family from West Yorkshire

“We (4 adults and 6 children, 8 months to 7 years) had a great holiday. Spent our time on the beaches and cliff top walks complemented with a bottle or two of wine. Excellent house and excellent holiday.”

Archibald Family and Finn Family, Fife Scotland.
July 2004

“Very peaceful location and very spacious holiday home, especially kitchen and dining room. We loved playing tennis, swimming and Kayaking at Chatesuneuf-du-Faou on the river, an excellent location for teenagers. Excellent visits to Douarnenez and Pointe du Raz (good beaches at Baie de Trepasses) and rocks on the D785. Concarneau was our favourite with its walled town and live music. We found lots of excellent beaches with warm water and rock pools etc. We recommend trying the local beer and cider, in addition to the usual excellent wines. Julia Roberts went down well with our 3 young men – thank you for the selection of videos.”

“What a super Gite! We were impressed with the initial impression – clean, welcoming, and very homely. We especially appreciated the welcome pack of bread, jam and milk. Jam especially delicious, thank you Kim !.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay (sisters with their families, all teenagers and beyond). The dartboard provided a lot of fun, especially after a few drinks. We have found a perfect place to relax and enjoy a break. Thank you for providing the setting for such a lovely break.

A lovely setting – especially the cows!!. Very relaxing with a garden perfect for outdoor games. We had a great stay.

A great holiday, we’ve had loads of fun. The House is beautiful and the garden is great for badminton. Thank you for a great stay.”

From our 2003 guest book:

"Thank you for letting us share your lovely holiday house. We have spent most of our days on Pentrez beach (about 35 minutes Chateaulin - Crozon- Pentrez). The beach is huge, plenty of space for our boys to play and the sea is very warm and stays shallow for a long way out. We did visit another beach at Benodet - more touristy, smaller beach but still very pleasant. We have eaten out a couple of times at Mikphil in Pleyben and the food is very good and they are ok with families. We have had a relaxing week, wished it had been for longer but hope to come back. It has been a pleasure to stay here."

The Green family from Warwick
9th September 2003

"Had a wonderful week, 6 small children enjoyed the space both inside and out, while the adults enjoyed the seclusion and wine! Spent several afternoons at Pentrez which was an excellent beach also had a nice trip to Concarneau and Benodet, both very pretty. We have enjoyed your lovely Gite and have been impressed with the decoration and furnishings, it hasn't felt like a holiday home at all! Thanks......we'll be back"
